I've had a popping/clicking noise for awhile. I got it checked by a very trustworthy and knowledgeable mechanic earlier. We took a drive and before we left the lot he said "strut bearings" and to replace the struts.

Anybody got any experience with this and could possibly give me a price range of what this will cost me or if I can repair it myself, etc?

 

Mine do that too. Fairly certain it was a result of lowering it. When I lowered it, it took me about 8 hours between disassembling/reassembling the struts and go all the way around. The parts aren't too bad unless you spring for the pricey ones. The Rear struts are really the only particularly difficult part. I found it easier to use a jack to help reinstall the struts.

 

If the strut mounts are bad, you might as well replace the entire assembly. Bad/loose sway bar links will give the same clicking/popping sounds.

I just recently replaced all 4 struts and springs myself, with hand tools, for $320...including new Moog sway bar end links and bushings. I bought preassembled strut/spring assemblies, making the installation incredibly straight forward...Remember to get a 4 wheel alignment as soon as possible after replacing struts and/or springs...

 

How did you manage to get a deal like that? I checked Rockauto.com and for Monroe struts they're about $102 a piece for the front ones alone. Ill definitely get it aligned the morning after i replace them.
