Default Is it possible?

Would it be possible to drop a 5.3 L LS4 V8 in a fifth gen monte? Random and crazy thought, and thought I would rather get input instead of failing and wasting money or time. Thank you for your input.

I suppose anything is possible with enough time and money. But i imagine you'd have alot of work to do.

I don't think that price would get you that kind of engine but who knows. As stated above which is usually stated by ChibiBlackSheep anythings possible with enough time and money.

I actually don't think the engine bay is large enough for the 5th Gen to fit the v8 without modification. And the suspension is much different. You can't even run headers on that car without hitting the firewall.

It is NOT worth the time, money, or effort to even try to piece together the swap.

Also, if you decide on an L67 (supercharged 3800) swap, do NOT get a 97 grand prix, it is the red-headed stepchild year where they did things differently and it is tough to tune, and modify. 98-03 grand prix only.

I have also seen a northstar v8 swapped into a 5th Gen though. And he was trying to sell it for a very low price. However the site I have seen it on is broken now lol

Any of the 98-03 L67s would work fine. The idea of having a V8 is fun and all, but to be completely honest, the aftermarket for the LS4 is very small, compared to the relatively large aftermarket for the 3800 series motors. If you feel like converting to Drive By Wire (which would be required for the LS4 anyway), you could swap in an L32 (Series III supercharged). Those engines aren't as plentiful though, as only the 04-07 Grand Prix had it. But they do have a more efficient blower and the heads flow a bit better.
