Question Oil pressure sending unit

Hello! I've read a few helpful guides on these forums on how to change this out on 2007 monte 3.5l ls, and even saw the YouTube video someone posted (aspiringthomas I think)
I'm brand new when it comes to car repair so I still have a couple of dumb questions.
1) Do I have to remove my oil filter to visually see the sending unit?
2) Can I replace it from under the car or do I have to use the socket extensions and do it from above? I'd prefer the easiest method.
3) I read for the same engine on impala you have to remove the starter to access it, does this hold true for the monte Carlo?
And finally...what parts going to be exposed? I know my replacement part has a threaded end and a plug looking end with a plastic cap on it. Trying to figure out exactly what I am looking for.
Thanks in advance, can't wait to hear some feedback hope my questions weren't tooooo dumb.

You can see it without removing the filter, but since it is located above the filter you have better access to R & R the sending unit by removing the filter. You can reinstall the old filter, or plan on replacing it the same time you do an oil change.

I recently did one on a newer Impala (I believe it was a 3900 model, which the shop book has the same info for a 3500 and 3900).
Since I never did one before, I did jack the car up. I unplugged the old sensor, then using the sensor socket and a LONG extension, I came in from the driver side of the engine over to it, put the ratchet on and came right out.
Wasn't too tough, did not have to remove the oil filter and lost a tiny amount of oil.

I felt it was hidden pretty good by the exhaust manifold....
