Dealerships use new clusters, not junk yard donors. As I understand the new cluster accepts a mileage from the BCM (as that cluster has no data until the BCM provides it).

The GM shop book does not give any instructions how to clear/reset mileage on a salvage cluster. And I've personally worked with the GM Tech II device GM uses for all service on these Montes, it does not program cluster mileage.

There are some shops online that claim they can reset that information. They might be able to offer more assistance.
