oil burning
I have an 88 ss monte carlo with a 350 mild cam and port and polished heads. I drove the car to florida and back and it burned 14 quarts of oil in that 2200 mile jouney but no visable leaks anywhere and no smoke out the exhaust. When you step on the gas it breaks apart when you maintain speed the rpms jump it back fires and hesitates and idles rough. What could be the problem? I pulled the plugs and they are fouled out some burned the elctrode white and others had oil and carbon build up on them.

I had that same issue, I think you just have a bad front crank seal. Mine was puking oil on the highway where I couldn't see it. I lost 4 quarts one night. I stuck on some valve cover breathers and it stopped building so much crank pressure. Never lost another drop.

have you looked on the botom side of the car, just becuase it isn't leaving any on the ground doesn't mean it's not leaking, ig the underside of the car is dirty could just be sticking to that and you would never know,
thats a rate of a quart every 157mile yike!
could be a number of things, everything from a bad pvc (i dought), worn rings, gummed up rings, bad valve guides, bad valve seals,
Do a compression test, try to get your hands on a leak down tester and do a leak down test aswell

Yea there is no oil on the underside of the car at all its just burning it. I took off the valve covers and everything looks good there. Someone told me to take off the carb and check the inside of the intake manifold I found oil there not a lot but a good amount could the intake gaskett be bad ant it sucking it up through the intake?

Look really close behind the balancer, if it's leaking fast enough it will blow off with the wind and be barely noticable, and of course you won't see it on the ground. It's probably not building up pressure until you are at a higher speed like 60.
