let you know what we think about what? Not sure so I'll respond to everything.

1. congrats on getting all the aftermarket parts
2. NOS doesn't blow engines and trannies, stupid people w/NOS blow engines and trannies. Are you stupid?
3. scrap the purge kit idea, leave that idea to the producers of TFATF

let me clear answer your questions resourcefully, big green dog.

first off, nitrous can hurt your engine if it isnt installed correctly, or if it is something like a 300 shot on stock internals. im not sure what you meant by "stage 1", but it probably isnt a huge shot, so it probably wont hurt anything right away, but nitrous is technically always bad for the engine. it causes increased wear to the interals parts of the engine. as for the tranny, any horsepower adding items can damage the trans, because it is built to handle a certain about of power, and adding to that wille ventually break the trans, thats just life, but adding an extra, say 50 hp, isnt going to break your tranny unless youre already having problems. if you don get the nitrous setup, and need help or advice, PM me, i had it on the car that i raced last year.

to make flames come out of the exhaust you dont need nitrous, and while that can work, it is dangerous and expensive. there are MUCH easier ways to install a flame kit. as for a purge solenoid, it is not neccessary, but it Is helpful. over time of not using it, the nitrous lines get gaps in them. an example of this..have you ever washed your car, and the when you first started spraying it off, the water was sporadic, coming out in short bursts, followed by blasts of air? thats from gaps in the water in the hose, but once filled it works fine. nitrous experiences the same thing. to get the most out of your system, you want continuous insertion of the stabilized oxygen and without a purge kit, you often get similar air gaps to that of the garden hose, so youre not getting full use of your system. however, when you do purge the system, you are technically wasting nitrous. the purge solenoid is more for use in racing, where an air gap could cost you to lose a race because it creates a brief drop in power from the bottle. if youre just putting it in to screw around on the street, you likely wont notice a difference from the purged to unpurged system.

I would like to add to Patrick's post that our non-SC montes trannies are at the edge of breaking already as they are.

These things are only rated for 200FT LBS of tourqe if I am not mistaken and the stock 3.8L NA engine is close to 180ish. I would seriously think about it before you add that kind of additional stress to the trans or make sure you have a replacement ready to roll.. lol

Chevy_jj may want to confirm these numbers as I am working off of memory and a bad case of CRS.

we have some cool smilies here!

I will add this. I had a buddy who had a 94 Accord automatic who boosted 8lbs on stock internals and had 140k on the orig engine and tranny. He ran this setup for a year and a half with no problems, he only stopped running it cause somebody ran a red light and totalled his car. Moral of the story, use a little logic when doing mods and avoid the hassles you'll surely bring upon yourself if you don't.
