Exclamation No Acceleration Between 2nd & 3rd Gear

I own a 2002 SS that is experiencing some problems. During a hard accelleration between 2nd and 3rd gear the car will, in most cases, lose RPMs slowly for about 3 seconds and then acceleration will occur. In some cases the car will not accelerate at all, losing RPMs until I take my foot off the gas and put it back down. I recently changed the oil, air filter, and spark plugs. Any ideas as to what may be causing the problem?

I am new to the forum so I am not sure if I have given enough information per the problem.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

How's many miles on it?
When's the last time you had a filter fluid change on the transmission? Could possibly be a clogged catalytic converter.
Maybe a faulty failing MAF..
Is the a cel? (Check engine light)

Thanks for the response, STUMPMI! 99,000 miles on the car. The transmission fluid was recently changed. There is no check engine light. I am starting to think that the issue may be the fuel filter. I am going to try to change the filter this week, I will keep posted on the outcome.

I'm kinda thinking it's something with the trans personally. No check engine light and a recent trans fluid and filter change is leading me to that conclusion.

Fresh fluid don't have the grit like the old fluid did that the clutches were using etc to grab.

UPDATE
I meant to update this a while ago, but the problem is fixed. The car needed a new catalytic converter. No more hesitation and it accelerates beautifully. I do remember there being a recall on their catalytic converters I believe. I do not think the previous owner broght it in for the recall. Was not a cheap fix at about but it goes to show, if there is a recall, just bring the car in for service.
Hopefully this can help someone who is looking for an answere like I was.
