Yea I would also check the terminals themselves. I've had cranking problems before but mine has about 50k more miles than you with a new battery also. My terminal wires were going bad and my BCM was about to go. Doesnt sound that extreme just because you are getting some power but not enough power.

I took out the starter and got it tested and it came out fine and the battery connections are all a okay. I think it has to be with the alarm. When i got the it had an aftermarket alarm on it but one day i opened the door the stock alarm went off so any ideas

I still say it's the battery.

Yeah if the starter tested fine I'd have to go with Chibi. Definitely have the battery tested.

But I suppose it could be something with the security inside your radio. If your radio got reset while you were trying to start it and the battery was dead for more than a few hours it could be a security/memory issue. There's a chance if the radio couldn't keep it's memory and security settings it would have lost it's key recognition or it was reset by default... How long has it been dead?

Battery tests aren't always correct either. A battery can pass the test but still not be able to start the car.

Also the Optima batteries aren't what they used to be it seems. I see a lot of people having problems with a redtop very quickly.

It sounds like it MIGHT be the battery, but I have heard of aftermarket alarm systems messing a car up sometimes. Have that checked out right away. A shop should have done three simple tests though to find out what isn't the problem. Usually, you check the battery, alternator, and starter. Once all of them pass, then move onto the alarm. If that doesn't work, then start looking at the BCM.

I had to bring back 3 batt's in one day cuz they kept testing fine but were not. it sounds like the batterey though if you made sure the terminals were tight and nothing was loose any where.

Also check the "Crank Relay". It is in the top fuse box under the hood. If that's bad, the car won't start. Also, I agree with the others in saying that an aftermarket alarm can screw up things. Until recently, mine kept going off because of heat. Turns out a piece of velcro that held the shock sensor in place was coming undone (by the adhesive melting at 135+ degrees) and that caused the sensor to move.

Hey guys, Im having kinda the same problem.

I recently had to replace the motor in my 02'.

Now when I try to crank it, I lose all power and get absolutely nothing. After I let of the key it comes back on, also my brake control module starts clicking when I hook the pos+ wire up, and my running lights stay on even though there is no key in the ignition. Please help if possible, I have tried posting threads but mods never post them . Also there is nothing aftermarket on the car at all. I know all my grounds are correct and my cables are clean and the battery is new.
