Default 97 Carlo Won't Start.. Need Help Fast!

Okay, so I've got a big problem here and I'm not smart about cars at all... I know the basics and that's about it. This morning I got in my car and it started right up like it usually does. I drove about 30 minutes home while it was raining and I turned my car off and ran inside to get ready for class, when came back out my car would not start. When I turn it on, the stereo, lights, and all that come on but when I try to start it, it just clicks and does nothing. What would be the problem??

Thanks for any help!

Possible dead battery, try to get it jumped.

Did you leave your lights on?

The clicking sounds like an almost drained battery. A jump should fix you right up. Unless you have some issue with your battery not charging..

I've tried to jump start it, but it still just clicks. All the lights and everything works fine. I've been told I need a new starter, could this be it and if so, how hard is it to put one on?

sometimes if you give the starter a few whacks while someone cranks it will start. but the starter is real easy to replace disconnect electrical connections then the 2 mounting bolts. starter is right in the front by the oil filter.

I would beware jumping the car, I have heard too many horror stories about the aftereffects on the electrical system, a battery pack seems to be a safer bet.
