Need help: Best online source for transmission - how to ID mine
Hi guys...
My tranny blew - wont shift into high gear around 50mph = I believe the 2nd and 3rd clutch are blown. Not fully sure about that.
I need to know the best online source for parts or where YOU like to get parts for your Monte.
ALSO: How can I identify exactly what transmission I need.
Its a 2000 MC SS with a 3.8 but there's two variations or different types of trannys I keep seeing.
How do I properly identify the one I have?
Thanks guys!!

jack up passenger side of car, get under car behind wheel, use flashlight to find the steel id plate on the passenger side of the transmission. there is a bunch of numbers and letters.
you are looking for the code LDB or LMB.
if you are looking for a used/junkyard transmission, go to Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market

You have a 4t65E, the ABSOLUTE BEST online source is for these transmissions is Triple Edge Performance. You can get full repair kits and or upgrade kits. Also alot of help for trouble shooting with what's wrong. Pretty sure your diagnosis is right though.

Thank you guys!
Thats exactly what Im looking for cuz everywhere I look, naturally, theres an option for either one.
Damn....is that really the only way to find out? Dont think I can jack it up at all.
Thanks a lot for giving me some places to look for a used tranny.
A shop sourced one for me and said theyd put it in for $1800 and it would be $2200 if they got down there and the rear seal was blown.
I almost think I should tell them to F-off simply based on the 4 hour estimate to fix a rear seal - which I QUITE sure is a gross overestimation of the time it takes to actually do that job.
I cant justify too much money in this 2000 MC, but I would really like to get it fixed.
