A 2 or 4 ohm load on an amp is typical in car audio. I don't know why you would think an amp only accepting those would mean you couldn't run an aftermarket head unit into it? A lot of the guys you hear who have massive subwoofers in their cars run on 2 ohms. The 2 ohms just give you a higher power rating which gives you a larger "thump" but you lose some sound quality. Thus 4 ohms = less power rating bet better sound. Most all home stereo systems run on 8 ohms, thus the need for a self-powered auxiliary subwoofer.

Also those adapter kits for steering wheel controls are not a 100% thing. When I was still in college I worked for a Circuit City for a while and the car audio techs were constantly bad mouthing them, just to give you a heads up. If I recall they gave them a roughly 75-80% chance of success.

Ok Dusty....here is the info for one of the many radio shops that have unlocked GM radios for your Monte. You can call them toll free at 1-866-380-0529..the shop is called S.P.L. Electronic.....their web site is as follows oem-auto-accesory.com/factory_gm_radios.html. I'm sure you can call them and talk to a tech about replacing your faulty radio with one of theirs which wont be coded and it will be plug and play...hope this helps you out.

No problem, I figured out the typo I emailed them and they said they do have one, I just have to recover from the $600+ I just spent on it the last two weeks. Hope they still have one in a couple of weeks. Thanks again!
