Default The Mystery Electrical Harness!

Hey guys, love the community here. Great facts and questions and LOTS of great information.

Changed the spark plugs and spark wires this weekend with a friend of mine in my 2002 3.8L V6. Everything went pretty smoothly until we got everything put back together. Then there it was: an electrical harness all by itself, hanging in the wind. Plain as day, we looked at it and it looked at us with wrathful menace in its hateful sockets.

We searched and searched and couldn't find a spot to plug it into, and it laughed at us. The damn thing laughed. Here's a link to some photos on Imgur I took of the harness.

1. First photo shows the approach to it so you can see where everything is, the harness is circled in red. Looking at the wires it looks like it hits a big wirey junction and then maybe goes to the blue circle(?)
2. Second picture is a closer photo, harness is circled in red. Circled in blue is another harness that looks similar, hopefully this will help someone pinpoint what/where I'm talking about.
3. Third picture is taken from the Driver's side of the hood. Just to give you another angle on this thing.

So does anyone have an idea where this is supposed to go? Does it belong behind or under the engine? I'm pretty stumped.

Really? Is it just there to look stylish? I mean, I don't remember disconnecting it, that's what made it so concerning seeing it after we put everything back together. But I'm surprised that it would be there if it wasn't used for anything.

All the wireing harnesses are pretty much standard across certain Models and Model years... IF Your Model falls with in the category then I would say its for some added accessory yours doesn't have.

GM used this engine in a lot of different cars. They reused engine harnesses too. You are missing an option that the sensor plugs into. A lot of us are running that blue plug just sitting in the open.

It's all good
