Just bought the monte, knew the front speakers didnt work but thought it was no big deal. Come to find out that the speakers are fine but there is something else wrong, took the factory head unit out to see if anything is wrong, everything seems fine. Found out that this monte has no amp in the back, and the car had some sort of sound system install previously. My question is how do i get my front speakers working again? Do i have to buy another factory amp? Or can i buy and aftermarket stereo and just run wires to each speaker? I havent done sounds in a car since i was a kid. I dont understand how to rears are working if the fronts cant work without the amp. Any help would be appreciated.

 

Looking at that wiring pic I would just buy a radio wiring harness (if the current one is in bad condition) and then rewire. Look at this post.

I am assuming you have a 6th gen. Getting the door panels off will not be hard as there are write ups out there, though having a friend to help you out is nice when removing the window switch.

basically just connect wires from one harness to the next, its kind of like a puzzle figuring it out. come to find out one of my speakers is blown, and the other one is just some crappy one from amazon, going to buy good ones this week. I also read that the tweeters wont be able to work without the amp. i might try to wire them directly to the speaker.
