Angry Front pass. window went down but not up

I have a 2001 SS. As my dog likes to stick her head out of the passenger window, I use my master switch to open for her quite often. On a very cold day, the window went down and did not go up again. I drove home and made an appointment with my Chevy mechanic. First we replaced the motor. No help.
Then a new regulator, No help. He did raise the window though and waited for anew pass. switch Installed the new switch today. the window went up as normal when passenger switch was used. On the way home, I rolled down the window using my master switch (to my dog's delight) and the window went down. It would not go back up. Neither switch worked to make it go up.
I returned to my mechanic and he was also stumped. Ordered a new master switch and a new passenger switch when I returned home.
It seems that the master switch somehow disabled the pass switch, perhaps burning out the diode? Anyone else ever have such a problem?

I had a similar problem...
Mine would go down but not up...
So I took the door apart figuring it was plug or the switch..
Turned out the main power(Hot) was working only intermittently..
Turns out.. It was just a faulty fuse.
Changed the fuse and its been fine ever since..
Something to consider.

Yes,
I had the same issue with mine it was the switch, on mine. I had it happen once on a Pontiac Trans Port that I owned and it was the switch on it too.
The switch is a fickle little item and when it happened the parts guy told me it wasn't guaranteed to work if I bought it and it failed then I couldn't exchange it. Might have just been an issue with me fixing it vs. having the Mechanic do it.
But it worked and all is well with the space time continuum.

I've seen this in many cars owned by myself or a family member. With the exception of my BMW, which was the pins that hold the window to the arms that raise and lower the window, it was the master switch that was bad. On my mom's old Caravan, if the master switch went bad, the switch on the affected door would not work either.
Why is it that when the go, the Down works but the up doesn't?

Thanks for all the replies. I will know next week when the new switches come in and will also suggest the mechanic change the fuse while he is working.

I have a great deal of spare parts for this Monte, a front bumper, a rear side window, a spare air cond/heater control assembly, a front fender, but the parts I seem to ever need I do not have. Now I have a pass. window motor and a pass regulator/w motor to add to the collection.

One more thing to mention. While I was looking on Ebay for a master switch, I saw one listed for over $1000 there and it stated that 7 or so were sold and some were still available. That seems crazy to me! It must be made of platinum.
