Default monte carlo Whining????

now im new to this forum and ive seen from a couple friends and coworkers that these places are filled with wells of knowledge amongst everyone. seems like a good place to ask my question. lol.
i bought my 2006 monte carlo ss in july 2011. when i bought it from the guy he said he just recently had the tranny serviced (fluid, filter) and tuned up.
sounds good i think!
bought it with 72K on mileage, now its at 86K and i have this horrible whining noise... ive spoken to a couple of guys who own monte carlo's around my base and a few of them have heard my car rolling down the street with this horrible noise... sounds like a damn siren! some think i have a turbo or something after market...
i wanna say its the tranny, but not sure.
someone else who has a monte 5 speed said his did the same noise while in gear... he changed out the throttle bearing?? or throttle response bearing, something along those lines.
NOTE: the car only makes this noise while in gear, once i hit about 45mph the noise is gone...
does ANYONE have any insight on what this whining noise is, where its coming from and how the hell to get rid of it.....
i have magnaflow cats on my car and cant even hear the exhaust over the noise... its stupid.

Good chance that the recall for the power steering fluid was never done

You could have a leak there, or it could be low on fluid and making the whining noise.

I have a noise kinda like that. I thought it was only when I was in gear but turns out its just louder when Im in gear. It kinda goes at the pace of the car. so it will make the sound in beat when idling and when I put it in gear and as I speed up it will go faster. then when it shifts into second it will slow down with the rpm. until the car is going fast enough that is just sound constant.

sounds like a torque converter to me....... turbo monte is starting to do this as well and i ruled mine to be the torque converter.
