it depends on what your are looking to do but I would say a modified pcm is a great investment. If you plan on modding your car it is a must. Definately worth the money especially if your car is throwing a cat code.

I question it being worth $100+ if you'r throwing a cat code (P0420) for having a high flow cat. I did some research and a lot of people (all makes) who have put high flow cats on have defeated that code by modding a couple of spark plug non/anti-foulers from the parts store (less then $10). When I did my high flow cat, I was prepared to do that if I got that P0420 code.....

BUT, I modded my Monte heavy enough that I HAD to get a PCM tuned and had that code deleted at the same time. I worked with PCMforLess.com. Service was great and the PCM is working AWESOME!

I highly recommend a tunned PCM for extra performance. In the case of the tuned PCM for my 3.5L, it also did WONDERS for the transmission, which is the same 4T65-E that all of the later model Monte Carlo's use.

There are a few companies that can do this for you.

Just try to do this LAST in your modification lists (unless you are top-swapping and can't run the car without it, obviously you'll need to do that at the same time)
