Default knocking in the front end

I can hear it and feel it a lil when i turn the stearing wheel from side to side (while the car is not moving) but it is louder and hits a lil harder when i turn and accelerate ( when the front end lifts)

my mechanic told me that it is probably the intermediate stearing shaft, but hasnt actually looked at it, anyone have a clue? i know, theres alot of a moving parts in there....

Thanks for the input!

Could be many moving parts in the front suspension. Bushings, bearings, loose anything.

The first things I thought of were bearings or the CV joints. Both can go out relatively easily. Good luck.

In my own experience my 01 SS was doing the same thing. I tried changing the ISS still had the sound til one day we brought it in the shop, jacked up the front end and repeatedly shifted in and out of park. Found the noise coming from the half shaft...never changed it out though since the noise went away when the weather got cold. Noise still hasn't returned...*knock on wood*

I would say check your bearings or your cv axles. If it does turn out to be your cv axles then check your bearings while your at it because a bad cv axle can cause your bearing to go to. I had the same problem when I would turn or go over speed bumps, turns outs out I was missing my cotter pins in my ball joints. I put them in and tightened them up and I have not had a problem since.

well the bearing has play in it, so that for sure is gone, or at least on its way out... its gotten to the point where i wont drive the car anymore till i get my new bearings in (ordered off ebay... cheapo, but as long as they last a year or two, thats fine with me ATM)
how can i tell if my shaft is gone bad? what symptons should i look for? the car is 11-12 years old (depending on when it was actually manufactured, its a 2000)
