Greetings all.

Am I to understand that my '07 MC LT's periodic maintenance needs are simply met by cycling through the "Maintenance I" and "Maintenance II" intervals until about 50K miles...when some additional services are needed on top of that?

I'm about to hit 30K miles (a big interval for most makes, it seems), and I'm a little surprised that the manual indicates that not much more than a Maintenance II will be needed.

I always thought of 30K as when moderate-level replacements/flushings/drains-and-fills are done. Is this not the case because so much on this car is rated for 100K-mile life?

I don't want to neglect anything, but neither do I want to pay for things that aren't needed.

OVERVIEW
*Note - This is a general guide to what is performed on your GM vehicle. Inspections and procedures will vary depending on your specific model

GM recommends the Maintenance II service is performed when :

• The "Change Oil Soon" message comes on within 10 months of the vehicle purchase
• Maintenance I was the last service performed

During Maintenance II the following services are performed:

• \Change the engine oil and filter
• Rotate tires and check inflation pressures and wear
• ]Replace the passenger compartment air filter (Cabin Air Filter) \
• Reset oil life system <
• Visually inspect the vehicle for leaks or damage ]
• Inspect engine air cleaner filter – replace as needed
• Perform brake system inspection
• Check engine coolant and windshield washer fluid levels – add fluid as needed
• Inspect the steering and suspension systems<
• Inspect the wiper blades
• Inspect restraint system components
• Lubricate body components
• Check and adjust the transmission fluid level as needed
• Inspect the throttle system
• Perform any needed additional services - see below

During the life of your vehicle, other services will need to be performed on your vehicle during the Maintenance I and II services, and these services are based on time and mileage.
25,000 Miles/75,000 Miles/125,000 Miles

• Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
• Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components

50,000 Miles

• Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
• Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
• Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components
• Change the Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter (Severe Service - see below)
  

100,000 Miles

• Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
• Change the Automatic Transmission Fluid and Filter
• Replace Spark Plugs and Inspect Ignition Wires
• Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
• Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components

150,000 Miles

• <Replacement of the Engine Air Filter
• Replace Engine Coolant <
• Inspection of Accessory Drive Belt - Replace if needed
• Inspection of the Fuel System for damage or leaks
• Inspection of the Exhaust System for loose or damaged components

Severe Service:
GM recommends more frequent changing of the automatic transaxle fluid and filter if the

vehicle is mainly driven under one or more of these conditions:

• In heavy city traffic where the outside temperature regularly reaches 90°F (32°C) or higher
• In hilly or mountainous terrain
• When doing frequent trailer towing
• Uses such as found in taxi, police or delivery service

• Every 100,000 Miles: GM Recommends replacing the Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Automatic Transmission Fluid/Filter and the Transfer Case Fluid.
• Every 25,000 Miles: GM Recommends that the fuel and exhaust systems are inspected for any damage or leaks
• Every 25,000 Miles: GM Recommends replacement of the engine air filter. This will be needed more often if regularly driven under dusty conditions
