head lights work. but switching the light from dim to constantly on only works for map lights and floor light. none of the instrument pannel lights work. nor do the tail lights work

i dont mean look at it if the lights come on or not i mean replace the switch with a knowen good one. most of the head light switches GM has will take out the dash lights when they go bad. and the tail lights might be on that same side fo the switch

Bring the car to the junkyard. Find a similar car Monte/Impala/Grand Pix/Regal and try it out in the parking lot with one of the boneyard guys there. If it works, pay them for it, if not, thank them for their time and assistance.
