My 06 has onstar, but its not auto dimming, it has the manual switch thing. But I also have map lights in it too.

I ment "Why buy an '03 mirror for your '03 Monte and possibly get a mirror that could leak on you just as the stock, original mirror did?"

Wouldn't you rather have a newer mirror and hopefully get away from the problem?

I don't know if the newer mirrors (the ones with on-star) will plug right up to my wiring harness that is currently there for my non-onstar mirror.

I wondered the same thing about the plugs?

Our '03 Pace car, the wiring for the mirror looks like it's wired directly to the mirror? No plastic plug. Unless I'm looking at the mirror wrong?

Are there any self dimming mirror that do this? Wired right to the mirror?

Weird, I guess I've only ever seen my mirror, but I have a white plastic plug that I can unhook with a flathead and pull it out then mount my new mirror and then just plug the mirror in and I'm changed.

I'm just assuming what is happening to my rear view mirror is the same thing that happened to yours, minus the exploding...

It started with a little strip at the top when we bought the car back in August of last year and I just figured it was no big deal, survived all winter...now summer has rolled around and it's progressed to 2/3 of the entire mirror being a different color. It's a huge distraction and near impossible to back up anywhere when there is a direct light source shining into the mirror.

Also, my thermometer in the DIC has been off, could that be related to this? It seems to show very cold temperatures when it has been sitting for a while (50-60*F when it's a solid 80-90+ outside), but when I look at it while driving it seems to usually read the correct temperature.
