Knocking when turning left
Hi
I have noticed a knocking noise from my brake pedal when I am turning left and slightly breaking. I do not think it is the ABS because I hear a knocking sound. It does not sound like a pounding sound as you would hear when the ABS kicks in.
Any idea's?
Thanks

What year is the car?
The first thing that comes to mind is the intermediate steering shaft.
Check out this page I found about how to grease it yourself:

thanks for the update. It is a 2004 with a plethera of serivce receipts
. I will have the dealer check it, next time I get the oil changed, which will be soon. I have a friend with a 2002 impala. he said he had the same problem. They would not replace the piece only lube it. Is that the general concensous or should they replace it?
Thanks,
Ralph

I just lubed mine about 1500 miles ago. Even if I had to do it every 10,000, I'd be okay with it. But then again, it doesn't cost me anything. If I had to pay to have it done, I wouldn't be happy.
