Knocking when turning left
Hi
I have noticed a knocking noise from my brake pedal when I am turning left and slightly breaking. I do not think it is the ABS because I hear a knocking sound. It does not sound like a pounding sound as you would hear when the ABS kicks in. Any idea's? Thanks |

What year is the car?
The first thing that comes to mind is the intermediate steering shaft. Check out this page I found about how to grease it yourself: http://www.colinkraft.com/shaft.php |
RE: Knocking when turning left
thanks for the update. It is a 2004 with a plethera of serivce receipts :(. I will have the dealer check it, next time I get the oil changed, which will be soon. I have a friend with a 2002 impala. he said he had the same problem. They would not replace the piece only lube it. Is that the general concensous or should they replace it?
Thanks, Ralph |

RE: Knocking when turning left
I just lubed mine about 1500 miles ago. Even if I had to do it every 10,000, I'd be okay with it. But then again, it doesn't cost me anything. If I had to pay to have it done, I wouldn't be happy.
