Interior lights inop? Might wanna read this..
That switch replacement was the solution. I popped it in, and the lights came on with no problems. I can't however get the Low Tire Pressure light to turn off with this switch.
I just dismantled the burnt out switch. It seems a small bullet shaped piece of copper what was pushing up against another contact via spring, came out, and short ciurcited the whole switch. I wonder if I can put it all back together, if it will work properly. Perhaps I will try, if I get bored this weekend. It's jsut soooooooo nice to be able to see how fast I am going at night!
Special thanks to InTheIROC for his help with this matter!

Just a quick question, I am pretty mechanically inclined but I don't want to go through hells half acre looking for the wiring harness etc for this.....please advise where I need to go.
I am having this lighting issue in my 02 MC LS.
The Odometer light is on but faded when I start the car, then after about 2 to 3 minutes it comes on to the normal level it should be! I seem to recall, once or twice the far left triangle of the speedometer was dim also but that has stopped. Might this just be the dash light bulbs going bad or the wiring, switch, and/or fuse issues discussed earlier? Any input would be helpful...
Much Appreciated

Damn, I have the same problem. No backlights, dim odometer, not tail lights.
Since I had just upgraded all of my bulbs to LEDs (via a whole lot of soldering) I initially thought the LEDs were the cause, but then I wrote it down to BCM issues because I was also having DRL and Security problems.
In retrospect (after reading this thread) its probably a bad contact in the switch after I had it apart.
Thanks for the heads up.

Sure enough. Short in headlight switch (repaired upon reassembly) blew the Rear Park Lt Fuse (Pass. side fuse block).
Replaced the fuse and presto... Cluster illumination and break lights. This may have just saved my $200 on a BCM.
