Hi all, my name is Ross and I'm new here. I could use some help, and I home someone can help me out. I have a 97 Monte LS, 3.1, and my interior light would not go off when I got home from work today. Switch is off, all doors are shut, but the light stays on. I am hoping to find a solution before my battery dies. Any suggestions?

 

Check the plungers on your door jams. They may need to be readjusted. Sometimes with a lot of years of pounding, the pluger adjustment moves or sinks into the jam.

 

Thanks for the reply, SolaraSlayer, but I don't see any plungers like I am used to seeing on other (possibly older?) cars. Could it be some kind of "new and improved" switch? I just took the fuse out for the time being, but any further help would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

Okay, so the switch is activated by the latch. You may have to take your door panels off and see if it is stuck there.
