Heres a quick way to check for a vacuum leak:
Take a spray bottle with water set it to mist...
While its idleing.... Spray the vacuum lines ..when you hear the motor start stuttering (miss fireing) you have found the leak.
If you cant find it using spray mists of water...
use a can of ether... and re spray around the vacuum lines when you hear the rpms raise..you know what vac lines to check...
What year and what motor is in your Monte Carlo?
That would also help with answering what lines and or where there maybe a vac leak...
It may also be an issue with IAC (Idle air control)
Which you can remove from the vehicle..give it a through cleaning and replace it and see if that doesn't cure the idleing issue.
