Default I think it's a transmission problem

I have a 2000 Monte Carlo SS 3.8 and the other day I went to drive it and I put it in drive and the engine reved up and the car started moving then when I gave it more gas the car seemed to grab the gear and it jerked. This only happens when I go foward from a complete stop. When the car is moving it runs just fine. I checked the transmission fluid and it was ok. I was thinking if I just need to get the transmission filter and oil need to be changed. Has anybody had this problem before. I hope somebody can help me.

Hi `Joe,
You have to stop drag racing your Monte everyday

Sorry 2 read that you are having a prob ?
How many miles on your Monte ?

How do you drive your Monte ? E.Z./Normal/Hard ?
When was the last time your transmission was serviced ?
When your transmission is warm, pull out trans stick
& smell the fluid Does it smell burnt ?
Hope not...that's a sign of wear/prob's.

Please post above infor, and hopefully our expert member's
will be able to advise/comment/suggest.
Good Luck, and I hope that it's something simple, like
a clogged Trans filter....

Hi Joe,
I'm not a mechanic, but I think a good investment would be
to get your transmission serviced: New Fluid & Filter.
Check back to see what our Expert Tech Member's
post about your prob.
Oh, how many miles were on you SS when you bought it ?
Do you know if your trans has ever been serviced ?
Good Luck from `Space : )

my camaro did that and it was a few of the transmission bands, 1 and 3 if I remember correctly. anyhow, ended up needing a rebuild. i would recommend not driving it anymore until you have it looked at.
