Hi `Drock, & Welcome to the MCF

How many miles on your Monte Carlo ?
How long have you owned it ?
How do you drive your Monte ? E.Z./moderate/HARD ?
When is the last time you had your transmission serviced ?
(changed fluid & filter?)
Were they any signs of trans problems b-4 this incident ?
Have you had a trans linkage problems ?

Please post as much information as you can about your problems to help our expert/knowledgeable member's help you...Good Luck

Just for kicks, check the calipers, ensure one did not have a botl pop out, allowing the caliper to fall out of place (possibly hitting the rim, causing the grinding noise).

Another issue could be wheel hubs/bearings. You may have one that is so bad the only thinking holding it together is the axel nut and the CV halfshaft. This could also explain the traction warning. One at a time, get the wheels in the air, with the car in neutral, spin it by hand. Do you hear any noise? Wiggle it left-right, then top-bottom. If there appears to be a lot of slop or play, it probably is a bad hub/bearing assembly.

Check you transmission dipstick as well. If the fluid is black (and possibly with signs of grit in it), you were way over due for a fluid change. In my location of the world, most transmission fluid and filter changes should be done at or before 100,000 miles.
