Water, water , water
I just bought an '04 SS w/43k Friday nite. Sunday it rained here and there is water coming in up where the dash meets the blind spot thingy. Anybody got any ideas? I can't get back to where I bought it 'till Friday and it's supposed to rain some more.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Without knowing more detailed info, I would have to guess the weather stripping for the door. Or maybe the windshield seal is leaking. Either way, I would try to cover that area of the car during rain until you can get back to the dealer friday.
Oh yeah... I almost forgot...
Welcome Brooke. Nice to meet you.

Just thought of something else. Do you have a sunroof/moonroof? If so check the headliner fabric inside the car to see if it's wet.Are the seats getting wet? It's possible the sunroof could be leaking. The seals on sunroofs usually deteriorate the fastest because it's always in full contact with all the elements. Sun, heat, cold, ice, snow, everything.

O.k. the "blind spot thingy" would be the post of the frame of the car between the windshield and the door. The water is only coming into where that meets the dash. I don't know where the cabin air filter is. The newest car I've ever worked on was a '92 Plymouth Caravan so lookin' under the hood of this thing is like an alien craft... lol!!

Brooke... Feel the fabric roof liner in the corner at the top of the post above the dash next time it rains. If it's dry, I would guess it's the weatherstripping for the door that's leaking.

I haven't driven it in the rain yet. I got into the car the day after I bought it and there was water leaking onto the passenger door and down onto the carpet. I checked the door seal and the roof and those don't seem to be it, windshield I guess. I have an appointment on Friday to have it fixed. I'll let you guys know.
Is there some kind of conditioner you can put on allthe weather stripping to prevent it from deteriorating, I'm thinking along the lines of vaseline or somethin'?
