Hood Release Is Stuck!

Hood Release Is Stuck!
Hi Everyone, Im Jaywalk and I'm new to the forum. Wanted to throw a question out there and see if anyone had a quick solution. I have a 2002 Monte SS 3.8L, the hood release latch inside of the vehicle suddenly isn't opening the hood and it was just working fine last night. Is there a way to reset that cable that controls the hoodpop? And if so, how do I get to it?

RE: Hood Release Is Stuck!
The latches do get sticky over time. You have to figure it is right up front getting all the dirt, road spray, water, etc.I am in the habit of shooting some WD40 or puttinga few drops of motor oil on the hood latch on all my vehicles at every oil change.I had a cable break on a Dodge truck one time and wound up pulling out the whole grille assembly to unbolt the latch and open the hood, then replace the cable.

RE: Hood Release Is Stuck!
Welcome.
If you need an oil change, now would be a good time.
An experience oil and lube guy would know how to opena stuck latchand adjust or lube it if necessary.
Sometimes they don't even charge you.

Stuck Hood Latch on 2002 Monte Carlo SS
Just wanted to say THANKS to the post that recommended someone pulling the latch open while I pushed down on the hood. IT WORKED, and I was able to pop the hood open.
Also thanks to the post that suggested spraying the under-the-hood latch mechanism with WD40. There was lots of crud there (about 16 years worth). I flushed it out pretty well, and then closed the hood and pulled the cable release from inside the car, and IT WORKED.
You guys saved me time and money. Many thanks.
