Emergency brake stuck ? How to release it
Hey, I just did the o2 sensor and had to jack up the car, put it on Jack stands, set the "Emergency brake" so the car wouldn't roll backwards etc... Well after I was done and 100% job done. I let the car off jack stands and to my utter surprise, the parking brake is stuck in the on position. Not the pedal in the car, but the emergency brake itself is stuck near the rear brakes. It squeals like a stuck pig...lol. I can't remember how to adjust the cable going in to the rear brake caliper to relieve the pressure from the brake. Thanks for any help..
Diagrams will be great as well.. Mjclemm...

I'm not sure of the proper way but when it happened on my old van I. Hit it a few times with a hammer and it finnaly released. Mine was caused by the pads being worn out and pushing out too far.

whats wrong to see if that would help but imo i would take every thing apart to see why to didnt release. it could be aby number of resons. to be honest it has happend to me once on my cougar it was a spring broke that retracted the shoose. when i got a ride to the part store i replaced all of the springs and shoose and never had a problem since. but i didnt know what caused it. till i opened it up i didnt want a break falure and i dont want you to have one. be very carefull till you have a chance to open it up and see. life is pressuse so dont chance it and i am willing to see how you fix or seen or both on what happened

Take off the wheels and whack the hub part of the rotor with a B.F.H. I always tell customer to avoid using the e-brake unless they have to. 9 times out of 10 it will stick on an automatic since they rarely get used. You may even have you pull the rotor off and manually pull the cable back.
