Just wondering what would cause this to my belt tensioner casing??? Thanks guys! 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LT 190,XXX miles lmk what you think

^ Why would this happen? and I did drive it home from work like this had to. But no issues just a wind up car whining noise slightly. I guess my question is, is this from just normal wear and tear??? It's running and driving fine otherwise I wouldn't have even noticed if not for the whirring noise when I slow down and when I accelerate.

 

IMO theyre a wear item. Given the high age and mileage, Id just slap a new one on.

Could be that the spring partially broke or even just material fatigue over time. Hard to say for sure, but I wouldn't put much worry into it.

 

Just picked it up yesterday I didn't know it was going to be the whole drive I thought I could just buy that part but appreciate the input thanks
