I've used Timken bearings recently to replace 1 bearing on the Monte, 2 on my wife's '05 Impala and one on the '94 Grand Am. No issues. So far, a happy camper.

And, if I'm not mistaken, they are made in Ohio, so not the cheap-o Chinese stuff. For once something to help the U.S. economy and workers....

Well, I replaced the wheel bearing/hub assembly on the Lumina this weekend. It went well. I bought the hub assembly from Advance Auto - off their web site. List was $89. With a few other items, my order was over $100 - so, I got 15% off and a $50 coupon towards a future order. Shipping was free. Net cost on the bearing - $26. I used some "loaner" tools from O'Reilly - 36mm socket, torque wrench and a hub puller - the tools made the job fairly easy. No more bearing noises. Nice and quiet now. The hub assembly was from Federal-Mogul, three year warranty. Made in Korea printed on the box. I hope those Korean's make a good bearing - it wasn't a difficult job to R&R, but I don't want to have to do it again any time soon.

ball joint fork, hammer, prybar, probably all would get the hub off the axle. Mine didn't appear too tight. As a matter of fact, all the bolts including the axle nut came off with relative ease. All the you tube videos showed people removing the hub with hammers. Since I could get a hub puller for no charge, that's what I used. Real easy that way.

generally if ya change 1 hub assembly you minds well change the other one to. example replace both fronts at same time, or both rears at same time. i just finished putting new hub's all around on mine along with all new brakes
