Engine smell
hi im new to the forum, just purchased a 2000 Monte Carlo SS with 125k miles on it. was driving it on the freeway today (driving a little hard for fun), then parked it at home. noticed a burning smell from under the hood. did a little research and came to the conclusion that it may be solved by:
A) replacing the intake gasket
B) flushing dexcool coolant and putting in standard green coolant/get oil change
C) continue driving it till smell doesn't return assuming that when the mechanic changed the oil he may have spilled some and the engine heat is burning it off.
D) a combination of the above.
what im asking is what it most likely could be, and if anyone has had the same problem and had it fixed in one of these fashions or another. i bought this car used but the previous owner took care of it very well getting regular service ever 3-4k miles, so im hoping its nothing too serious like replacing the intake gasket. any input is appreciated, thank you guys!

bad news on the update of my monte. check engine light came on. now im stressed. i faintly smell a burning smell. i was watching my gauges and it seems to act strange. when im idle the gauge shows the engine oil level a little below halfway, but when i step on the pedal the gauge shows the engine oil level climb to about a bar or two above the middle. the temperature gauge sometimes stay a bar below the middle then slowly raises if im just idling. when the gauge hits the middle it very slowly goes down about a bar then stops then slowly goes back up to middle. it repeatedly does that over and over when im idle.. when im driving the temp gauge is pretty much normal. i popped up the hood after the check engine light goes on and with all my gauges doing that and noticed that the coolant level is a little higher. is this normal with the gauges? has this ever happened to anyone? thanks again for the input.
