Default Engine Mount Bracket Vs Transmission

Hi Everyone! I have 2006 Monte Carlo Lt. Today when I was driving uphill I had to brake suddenly. When I did, it felt like the car was clunking when I did that, but when I started to move again, it almost seemed like the car was jumping for a second or two, and then smoothed out. I also noticed that when I drive uphill only, there is a slight whining noise. When I opened the hood and watched the engine when it was shifted, it seemed to jump, but I'm not sure if it was too much of a jump. I noticed that the front mounting bracket might be worn, so I've attached a picture of it.
Now my question...Does this seem like the mounting brackets could be what caused the jump, or do they seem fine? I'm worried it could be a transmission problem, and maybe a problem with one of the pulley's. I'm hoping it's just the brackets since they seem pretty easy to replace, but I don't want to spend $100 on them if they look fine.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks P343! I'll take a look at those in just a little while. I was actually wondering more about the ones in the front. I've attached another picture and circled where I mean. I've tried finding pictures of what they should be like, but haven't had much luck. I might also be calling it the wrong thing since this is the first time I'm really looking at them. I think they're part number 10232891

I would say the bushing in that bracket is done for. It should be resting with the same gap front and back, instead yours looks like the rubber snapped where you can't see it and now it's not holding any control on the engine rock.

You can replace that with poly bushings or I think to replace the factory bushing you may end up having to buy the entire mount.

I'd suggest checking the lower engine and trans mount as well, see if they are still good while you are at this.

Thanks Maniac! I'll probably look into getting the upper ones replaced. I've also been looking up checking the lower ones...I guess the only way to tell if they're good or bad is to remove the tires and wheel cover? I've tried shifting from park to reverse to drive and watched the movement of the engine, and it doesn't really look like it moves too much, so without seeing them, I kind of think they might be ok. Thanks!

You can also raise the vehicle and see the lower engine mount without pulling a tire (and that might be best). I don't know if you can do that same for the lower trans mount (you may need to take the wheel off for that one).

I’ll probably be checking it out this weekend when I get a chance (I’ve been driving another car in the meantime). I’m hoping it is just the top pieces (I’ve found out it is actually part number 10345904, the engine mounting struts, or that is what the dealer was saying). I found someone selling the bushings, but from what I’ve seen, I’m probably better just getting the whole new piece. I don’t think I’m going to poly them since I don’t want all the extra shaking.
Tadcaster, have you received any news on yours? Hopefully it isn’t transmission related!
