Default about that alternator!!!

by the way drewskie043 have you or anyone for that matter found an alternator (highoutput) for the lz4....3.5 (flex) my search has lead me only to finding out its bosch 125amp none on ebay.... i dont want to have to get someone to build one a job like that (professional one i would trust) is like $500-$600 on my last estimate. as a techie and a member to the12volt i do know ohiogenerators is one of the best places in the country....any input is worth your effort....i work at advance autoparts and we cant get these yet....(stock alternators) another good question for guys with 3.9 is....what if any...is the difference between our respective alternators.....links part numbers always appreciated thanx guys

atsronnyats, sorry, no, i have not come across a high output alternator for the 3.5L. that's not saying there isn't one out there because i haven't really looked. first, i would make sure you really NEED the extra power. it sounds as if you are going to be running some serious electronics. i would suggest maybe checking out a high output unit for a 6th gen and see if that would fit up to your 7th gen. maybe you could look into a smaller pulley to spin it faster to get a higher output, but maybe they're regulated, just spitting out ideas...

as far as the differences between the 3.5 and 3.9 alternator, my best guess would be they are the same since they are virtually the same engine. sorry i couldn't be more help.

I'm not sure, but I think the alternator for the 3.5 and 3.9 would be the same...these engines are literally almost the same. The only difference I know of is that the 3.9L has a bigger bore (99mm vs. 94mm) and different intake manifold...

Default called the dealer!!!...

i didnt get much out of "jay" from the local dealer but i asked him to compare the to alternators (3.5 vs. the 3.9 from the 9c1 impala) and he says as far as a visual comparison via his computers photos they look the same in my system the numbers are different obviously but they also specify different manufacturers 3.5=bosch......3.9 = nippondenso but as far as the comparability....bolt pattern size overall "fit" jay and his dealer photos were unable to decipher much more then again jay didnt use the internet lost cause....welcome to georgia lol hit me back with your thoughts and yes id like to compile a sq audio system the right way without replacing my defective alternator thereafter installing a audio system.

if the 9c1 alternator will fit your 3.5, I'd go with that one, or at least check into it. I would expect the 9c1 to have a higher amperage rating, due to extra electronics needs on the 9c1 package.
