Default electric problem.... any ideas?

sooooo.... heres my problem. i was wiring my underbodys up to a switch instead of using the control box and when cut the 12v and ground, i touched them back together where i spliced them and magicly, they did nothing. i turned the box on, touched them together, nothing. not a big deal.... maybe its a bad splice! so, I recut and make sure i dont cut any wire fibers..... still nothing. I get my trusty meter out and check the volts coming in, and it says 003/004. how is that possible? i mean, i turned them on before I had cut to make sure their all working, shut it off, cut, and BAM no power?

what control box is this? something that came with the leds?

my thought is most leds cant handle 12v, if there was some sort of box(that came with the leds) that the power went though first before going to the leds, that control box may have had a maximum voltage output of only 2-5volts... if this is the case hooking up to 12v might instantly smoke every led.

the wiring itself may have a resistor built in to drop down the volts, as 2000ls said the lights themselves may not b able to hand the full 12 volts, as for y ur rights rnt workin i wish i could tell u...what kinda did u buy?
