Default The dying Monte Carlo

My Da and I have been working on my '98 Z34 Monte Carlo for awhile now. The car wasn't working at all, we changed plugs, wires and coil packs and it started barely running, but would sputter and die anytime I came to a stop sign or stop light and sometimes even if I just barely hit the break, it would die when I started moving again. Changed many of the sensors, and he sealed up/replaced some of the vacuum lines. It runs alright now, just not smoothly, and misses alot. While sitting at a red light the car will revv and jump forward enough that you hear my breaks grind from holding it back. It also whines while stopping, but it's an engine whine. Someone suggested it was the fuel pump or the timing system, does this sound correct? I need to get the check engine light of to pass inspection in March

So it idles up with brakes applied? Sounds like brake booster. Have you had it scanned?

best thing to do is to take it to a shop that has a smoke machine...sounds like you may still have a vacuum leak somewhere

Was talking to a friend of mine who also suggested a vacuum leak, he is supposed to take a look on Sunday. We've hooked it up to computer but all the codes are for sensors.

What sensors? As these cars are almost completely computerized those sensor can b pretty darn important.

you can change everything under the radiator cap, but it may not fix it...best thing to do is have it smoke checked or correctly diagnosed and not throw parts at it...not trying to be an a$$, but everyone thinks that parts are the answer...being a service manager, i have to make sure the correct diagnosis is called at our shop and what it will take to FIX the problem...

Sorry haven't been on in awhile. Took it to a mechanic, and discovered it is a manifold intake valve leak, as well as a vacuum leak, but it's the intake valve that is causing most of the problems. Working on getting it fixed. Thanks for suggestions!
