Default Door Lock Stuck -- 2006 Monte Carlo

Hello,

Turning the key doesn't get my car to unlock at times. I have to prress the key fob like 10 15 times before the lock works itself to the unlocked position.

The scares me because stupid GM only put 1 keyed entry on this car.

Any suggestions?

Jeff

Either get a new fob or take it apart and replace the battery.

Not sure how a new fob or battery is going to make the door lock work better.

Just the driver side..

I can unlock it with the fob and then open the passenger side and hop over the console if I am desperate.

I don't know why GM would only put one keyed lock on the car. Probably to cust costs.

Ive got the same problem. My actual key wont unlock the car sometimes, and I have no idea why GM would only put one keyed lock. Thank god my remote works like a charm and ive got 2 of em.

hey my key never worked when i bought the car. i took mine to the dealer, you can order a new cylinder for your lock from the dealer or the battery in the fob might be dead. idk if theres a battery in the key itself ,might be. i would tell tham that its a commen problem and see if you get it fixed for free. i think thats bs that they put defective cylinders on there cars.

and to the comment on the only putting one key hole on the car i like that it cuts down on theft and makes it look cleaner.

i hat it because only one key hole and its on the driver side. its a drag when your on a date for the first time with that person and it looks bad if you have to open the drivers side first to unlock the passenger side if the key fob did not work or did not have one all in general
