Default dome light button thingie

Ok, I'm confused. On the older vehicles there was just a little button that got pushed in when you closed the door to shut the dome light off. Where is it on the newer vehicles?? I have an 01 MC SS and when you open the passenger side door the dome light doesn't come on and it doesn't shut off the radio. Where is the trigger for that located? Thanks for your help in advance.

I don't know for sure on the Monte but on alot of newer vehicles it is built into the latch assembly inside the door.
