Default Dip Stick Reading

Well I recently did a head/LIM gasket change. Got everything back together and the engine is running fine. I did an oil changed as recommended, K&N and Valvoline Syn Blend. In the process of the gasket change I had to remove the dipstick in order to remove the head. I started w/ 4qts of oil and the dip stick was only reading 1 qt. I put in an extra qt so 5 total but the dipstick reading has not changed at all. I don't want to put more oil in and I don't want to run on low oil. I'm sure that I have no leaks. Is the dipstick not reading the oil level correctly? Not sure where to go with this one any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: Dip Stick Reading

I would make sure the dipstick cylinder has not been pushed up at all, that might give the false reading.
