Wanting to know if i could take a 1984 5 monte carlo ss front bumper and install it on my 1978 monte carlo. My fabrication skills are awesome. Where can i get a rear bumper for a 1978 monte carlo

 

My guess is the SS nose may fit the car but the body lines won't match up?

If this isn't an issue for you then check into the SS style nose the Malibu guys use on their cars. It's probably a closer fit to your 3rd generation car then the '84-85 SS nose will be.

 

The slanted fender on your 78 is gonna point the nose of the 84-88 bumper down severely. The fenders are gonna need grafted metal tosquare the front of them up. Not sure bout the headlights but I bet your gonna be modifying and making brackets to connect them to your currentcore support. It's an idea worth looking into but it's gonna be a handful!! If it were me... and I was gonna do this no matter what... I'd get 2 84-88 fenders and cut the front of them off and graft them to the 78"s. The holes for the front bumper to mount 2 the fenders on the 84-8's are nice and would be hard to re-create. A simplebolt, washer and nut just wont cut it for me! I'm too picky!

 

I think the grafting the front areas of the '84-85 front fenders is a better idea.

Less work fabricating.

 

I have seen it with a 1980 bumper swapped onto a 79. Looked awesome and matched up good...i dont know if thats the kinda of look you want...im guessing you want a little newer looking front end off an 83+.
