Hey everybody Im new to the forum and I bought my Monte New in Sept. 06. I have a 2006 Monte Ls. and my DIC displays everything except the compass, outside temp. and tire pressure. My question is, can the compass and the outside temp be added to my DIC? I can see that the harness (i think) for the ambient air temp sensor near the radiator. Thanks for the replies!!!

 

i believe the temp on those gets read from sensors in the windshield...but i wonder if the wiring would be in your car already and you'd just have to find a head unit out of a monte or something that has the temp in it

 

Yeah I figured that the harness would be there. Im guessing that I could buy the amient air temp sensor, plug it in and have a mechanic program it from a CPU reprogrammer. I would imagine it would be the same setup as changing a stock radio out and adding xm radio with a upgraded stock radio with onstar.

 

i would call the dealership and tell them you want to know the price of one with it and get the part #s
and one with out it and get the part#'s

but i thought they all had this feature in them.

is there a way to shut it on or off?

 

Check with this guy. Maybe he can help. The temp' senser is in front of the radiator, under the plastic shield.

Answer: On the 06, the DIC is in the cluster. I believe that the computer(s)
need to be reprogrammed to get this to work

Im sure the dealership can do this. I have a buddy that is a master mechanic for pontiac and he can get the reprogrammer. Ill keep everybody updated.
