hey guys my need help ?
my dashboard, radio and rear lights dont work if i try to dim them with the dimmer notin happens (but brake lights work fine) can someone help me on this please.

So, did this just happen out of the blue or was it after you did something on or to the car? Did you check the fuses?

 

yeap i chk fuses but it happen right after i re plug the fact amp??
any clues?

 

why did you unplug the amp?

Where were these fuses that you checked?

 

i have had the fact amp umpluged so i was putting everything back together the fuses i chked where driver side pass side and under the hood?

 

prob solved one of fuses was giving me false reading it was a fuse

Spiknek: I have the same problem with my car, an '02 Monte. Dash lights don't work - dimmer switch doesn't work - radio lights out. I did look at all the fuses - they looked good - which one gave you the false reading? Might be the same problem I am having although my lights just stopped working one day.

 

on the driver side it was a red 15amp one! (rear prk light).
hope its the same and it fixes your problem.

 

Same problem on my 2000 Monte SS and I will need to check that Rear Parking Light fuse also.

 

Reading this quick, I have a 1996 Monte that I've been working to fix a bunch of problems on, and one of the problems, related to this, was that the dash lights, radio, and shifter light would go out when turning on the parking and headlights, but the dome light and all others on the outside were working fine. I thought it was a short somewhere under my dash, as back when it first started happening, the lights would flicker and eventually just come on while driving down the road, or when I smacked the top or bottom of the dash a few times.

But instead, something was apparently broke or worn out inside the dimmer/headlight switch box itself, though nothing looks or feels broken. I just stuck in a replacement from a DIY parts junkyard place and they all work like when I bought the car 6 years ago.

So if anyone else happens to have similar problems and don't see anything wrong with the fuses, believing there's a short somewhere, save yourself some time and check there first... that might just be all that's wrong, too.
