4th Gen ('81-'88): A couple of questions about fuel delivery and electric choke
I have recently purchased an ‘84 monte with a carbureted 350 SBC.
It has an electric choke.
I have a question about the electric choke - should I still press the throttle pedal once before trying to start the car, or does that choke choke the throttle once i move the key to the ignition?
I have tried looking up the exact information on youtube, and while I found a number of videos of how the electric choke works (the coil, the difference in temperature) I havent found any that demonstrate how it actually actuates once the key is in. (Or does the electric choke merely pull the choke back as it warms up, and I still need to manually choke it initially through the throttle pump?)
Secondly - I have a mechanical fuel pump. I did put the gas maintainer additive into a full fuel tank (and let it run for 15 mins to circulate everything) before its winter nap, but am sure that the bowls and fuel line will be empty when I try to start it. How do I prime the system, as I’m unclear how the mechanical fuel pump will push the fuel up the line?
Do i just let it crank for 10-20 seconds (yikes), or maybe squirt a bit of gas/starter fluid into throttle to get the engine running for a bit and get the pump pumping?

nevermind. this can be deleted.
looks like the choke is still set through pumping of the gas pedal, and float bowls can be primed via vents.
