Default 84 SS fuel flow problem

I recently put my 84 SS 305 HO back on the road after laying it up to avoid another Maine winter. It seems to have developed a fuel flow problem: She runs fine until it gets well warmed up -then it stalls. I can see there is not enough fuel getting thru. I replaced the clear inline fuel filter. I have owned her for about 10 years and have not seen this before. I read that there may or may not be an electric "helper" fuel pump in the tank. They apparently started using them around 84 or 85. I checked the fuse panel and don't see a specifically labeled fuel pump fuse...
Advice or suggestions are welcome!

i don't remember those cars having a in tank helper pump, and Autozone nor Advance Auto does not have that particular part listed for your car. when you turn the key to ON do you hear anything in the back by the tank priming?

this is what i could think of:

you could have some bad gas in the tank that is clogging up the lines or fuel pump. it gets really varnish like and thick when it goes bad and is about the equivalent of pond scum, haha!

the next idea could be is you have some gunk in the bottom of your fuel tank that you are sucking up into the lines and clogging stuff up.

lastly, you say you've had it for 10yrs. the mechanical pump on the engine could be bad. i've see it happen before on older vehicles i've worked on. i don't think there is a helper pump in the tank. the 4.3L FI engines have in tank pumps only, since fuel injection requires higher pressures than carbed applications.

good luck and hope this helps.

Default RE: fuel flow problem (Thanks!)

I appreciate you guys' info and taking the time to reply.
It's good to know there isn't a fuel pump in the tank. (What a stupid idea!)
I thought a mechanical fuel pump either works or it doesn't. The car goes fine for 10 -15 miles and then starts sputtering. I added some fuel line cleaner, hopefully it helps dissolve any sludge.

Dan
