Default cooling system

i have a 2004 monte carlo ss w/an l36 engine. i seem to have an issue with my cooling system, while driving my temp gauge fluctuates and when parked the cooling fan seems to be useless. i recently replaced the thermostat, heater hoses and did a very thorough coolant system flush. other than the 2 issues stated above the car runs like a champ. jw if any fellow enthusiasts have had these issues or know how i can trouble shoot and fix them. any advice would be great. that is all.

I've experienced similar issues, lack of grill openings doesn't help much. There isn't too much air flow unfortunately.
I usually crank up the heat or turn on the A/C to help keep the engine cooler.

since its getting warmer out (obviously wait until no more freezing temperatures) try removing some antifreeze & replacing with water or try products like 'water wetter'.(bright neon pink bottle) I've had friends tell me its amazing.

You may also need to bleed some air out of the system (burp it).
On the thermostat housing there's a screw to alleviate the system of air pockets..
You may have to do it numerous times until there's no more air in the system.
Meaning you have to open and close it....
Don't leave the valve open for extended periods of time!!! Do it in short bursts..
Meaning each time the thermostat opens ... And then closes.. And burp it again..until you alleviate the air out.
You'll know ... When it's enuff.. When the engine temp stabilizes and stop getting hot.
Then just top off the overflow to the proper level and you should be good to go.

thanx yall, in addition to your advise i was told to raise the front end, take off the radiator cap, wait for the temp to rise to factory spec or open thermostat then turn heat on full blast and open the bleeder. air can get stuck in your heater core. air tends to rise to the highest point of a sealed/pressurized system and can block coolant flow.

I'm having a similar issue. It's driving me crazy. I can hear water sloshing by glove compartment. My temp gauge fluctuates as well. Had it bled, new cooler sensor installed. Runs fine besides that. I just don't want it to over heat.
