Default coolant leak

I have a 2002 monte carlo with a 3.8. I have a coolant leak at the elbow that looks like it goes from water pump to intake, How do you replace this part?

Easiest way for a first timer IMO - remove alternator, remove the bracket under the alternator, or loosen the bolts, so you can have some wiggle room to replace the elbow. Make sure none of it is broken off, if it is, make sure you get the broken part out of the intake

They just came out with new aluminum ones you can get from rockauto link----------> RockAuto Parts Catalog

Or get the gm ones. I had the plastic dorman ones fail in 2 months for me.

Just replace mine. There are two plastic bypass hoses on the bracket holding the Altenator. So follow Nighthaw's instruction just becareful pulling off the bracket. I broke both of mine trying to take it off as those hoses become very brittle. Use vasilene on the o-rings when you put your new ones in makes if very easy to push them into place before you put your blots back in. There are only three bolts on that bracket, one of wich is under the hoses running to your firewall on the metal part of the bracket. Hope this helps. if you have problems you can email me goodzwell@hotmail.com if you need pictures. just put in the subject line MONTE CARLO 2002
