Hi, new to the forum. I own a 2000 MC SS and am having an AC problem. When I turn on the AC the compressor doesn't start. The AC button inside the car lights up as if everything is ok, but the compressor will not engage. Clutch does not seem to be frozens as it turns freely.

Just bought the car and already had to change out the starter (bad soleonid). Just hoping I dont have major electrical problems with her.

Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

could be the a/c fluid is low, or it could be the compressor, but when the fluid gets low the compressor stops working, try a duracool kit, that may help

 

I agree with Wiz Kidd....you are too low on freon and the low pressure switch has tripped so you won`t damage the compressor. Top her up with some freon.
