ISS=Intermediate Steering Shaft.

The short term patch is a re-lube. Replacement is the long term provided GM actually came up with a better replacement part.

I had mine replaced and I am not convinced it fixed the long term problem.

It should still be safe, just an annoyance. I am sure the long term problems associated with the noise/feel could eventually cause failure.

I would check with your dealer and ask them if there is a re-call open on your car for this ISS problem. Rough cost if I remember was around $150-$200 for the re-lube patch.

Does anyone remember the TSB # on this one???
