Check trans fluid when warm or cold?

Why do you say that the flush will harm the tranny? My wife has a 05 LS, and it shifts hard when you go from reverse to drive. That appears to be the only problem. I am going to check the fluid to make sure it isn't low, but I was thinking of having it flushed, but now I am not sure. Car has about 60k on it.

flushing can do both good and bad but it seems to do more good than bad at this point...when u flush your tranny you shoot tranny fluid thru the tranny at high velocity and you attempt to flush out whatever is causing the problem sometimes the flush doesnt get the problem out but it spreads the problem thru the entire tranny causing even more problems
